Unexpected shrinkage
I love the prints and colors. I found the perfect pattern (MSQC's Lattice Quilt). As there are a lot of bias edges to contend with for this pattern, I opted to starch the fabric before cutting. However, as I sprayed the fabric, it shrunk in one direction by 3/8" as I sprayed. I hung them over my accordion fold up dryer to dry. After completely dry they measured 9.5" x 10". I lost a full half-inch! All my blocks will be smaller than the pattern calls for. I can make it work for my purpose with an additional border. But I'd not heard of such a problem before. The video shows the shrink happening. I was using Mary Ellen's Best Press.
