Recently, I attempted to begin quilting again and wanted to make an Exploding heart quilt and some memory bears with my sons clothing. He passed away and it has taken me a long time to finally have the courage to begin going through his clothing. I bought the block lock so that my squares would hopefully be perfect as this quilt had to be pretty close to perfect. ( I may or may not be. Lol) After a couple days of picking and choosing and indecisiveness, not sure if I could emotionally do this, I finally started cutting his clothing. After a while of cutting, I began to feel anxious and uncertain. I broke down in tears and just stood at my cutting table for a bit, feeling I still just couldnt do this.. I glanced down and through my ugly crying and tears, I saw 2 stray strings from my sons favorite Pj's shaped into a heart. So instead of tears of sadness, I had tears of joy as I felt my son was telling me it was ok to cut up his clothes. I am excited to continue this quilt with a new warmth in my heart and inspiration from my son and of course my new block lock. I am taking my time cutting and squaring these pieces and the block lock is an amazing help. What a great ruler.
