I have never owned a Bernina or a Bernette before. So I really wasn't sure what to expect. I heard both pros and cons. I have never owned a dual feed machine before. This is so smooth, sometimes I can't believe it. I bought this as a travel machine but honestly it has many of the features that my high end Baby Lock Solaris has. Definitely a great purchase.

The jury is still out on the Bernette b77. I'm thrilled to have a new machine with many bells and whistles for the sale price of $999. But in a way it does too much. And it is a 'quilting and sewing machine' but didn't come with a 1/4" foot. I had to order one from a shop about 2 hours away that is a Bernina dealer. It came with all sorts of feet that I'll never use. There is no paper manual (I know, that is typical these days), but to sort through a huge PDF is annoying, and I don't want to print the whole thing or sort through which pages to print. So I'm trying to figure out how to use it via YT videos - not the ones from Bernina either. The best ones are from dealers. I don't need more than one way to put the presser foot down. Also, I can't seem to figure out how to go around a curve. When I put the needle down I can't get the presser foot up. I guess I'll have to look that up. It tells me the bobbin is low way too early - and stops, when there is enough thread in there to do the next three inches that I need. Annoying! The space between the bottom of the machine and the 'floor' is so small I can hardly change the needle - I'm 5'3" and have small hands, too. I can hardly do it. Annoying! I was wondering if I had something wrong with my dexterity, until I brought the Pfaff back out - no problem changing the needle. I also can't get it to quilt neatly, so I'll have to find the right video to explain that. So, it is peace of mind to have a new machine, but I'm running a computer of which I'll never use most of the stuff on, which makes it difficult to find the things I do want to use. It's like my truck, the owner's manual is over 400 pages. I want to go in drive and reverse with a radio, heat, air conditioning and power windows.

This will be used for classes because my 770QE is too heavy to take.

I was looking at sewing machines to see if I could find one that had all I wanted in a machine. The sewing machines I were looking at were going to cost around $5,000! This Bernette 77 had all the bells & whistles I was looking for and cost less than half of the ones I had on my wish list. Awesome!!

Looking forward to making quilts on this machine!

I love it! Actually I have been traveling so have not really used much yet. I have been watching the videos and reading manual. Looking forward to getting started in the next week or so.
