I had to fix the pattern

After the hourglass shape is sewn together the block is 12.5-12.75”. The instructions are to cut 2” from the center. After I finish cutting, the only section that is actually 4” is the four patch, all of the other sections I have to square up and trim approximately 1/4”. Having said that, I still like the pattern. I played around with the layout of the block and decided to change it. Here is the new block, I love the secondary pattern it creates.

Fabric requirements

Love the pattern but not clear of fabric size needed. I don’t buy precuts because I don’t like the pinked edges. But it would help if you could begin with fabric requirements like other patterns. Thank you
