Most of the time you don’t get a whole lot of advance notice when a new baby is going to enter your life. By the time the parents announce that they are expecting a little bundle of joy, the baby’s arrival might be only five or six months away. If you want to make a baby quilt for a shower gift, that’s not a lot of time!
Using baby fabric precuts from Missouri Star can give you a head start on your baby quilt project. If the parents are all-in on a gender themed nursery, you might choose among the baby boy charm packs or charm packs for baby girl quilts. If you want to stick with a gender-neutral theme for your quilt, there are many brightly colored juvenile quilting precuts and black-and-white baby quilt fabric bundles.
Novice quilters often ask, “How do you make a simple baby quilt?” Baby quilts are a great size for beginners to tackle. Missouri Star has several baby quilt patterns that use precuts and are easy to assemble. For example, the Boho Baby quilt pattern uses charm packs for baby quilts. The Fence Rail Star Quilt pattern requires one roll of 2½” strip precut fabric for baby quilt. The Pennant Flags quilt pattern asks for one package of 10” squares. As you can see from the examples above, the answer to the question “What size squares should I use for a baby quilt?” will depend upon the pattern you are using.
If you are an expert quilter, whizzing together a baby quilt in a few months may be no big deal. But if you are a less experienced quilter, Missouri Star has your back! We have baby quilt patterns and precut kids fabric that can help you create a much-treasured quilt for the little one you love.
