A thread has one fundamental job: it holds pieces of fabric together. What thread would you choose to sew a parachute? An automobile airbag? A running shoe? A leather handbag? A pair of denim jeans? A firefighter’s turnout coat? The sail for a boat? These are some of the applications for which A&E Gütermann manufactures thread.
If firefighters and military paratroopers trust their lives to Gütermann thread, you can probably depend upon Gütermann sewing thread for your projects.
Missouri Star carries several colors of 50 weight Gütermann thread cotton for machine and hand sewing. Many quilters prefer this 50 weight Gütermann quilting thread for piecing because it is both fine and strong. Using it instead of a 40 weight thread decreases bulk in the seams of a block. Many folks who embroider enjoy using this Gütermann embroidery thread because of its silky luster.
We also offer Gütermann Sew-All Thread–so named because it is a good multi-purpose thread useful for all fabrics. Sew-All Thread is a Gütermann thread polyester option for construction. However, its finish is beautiful enough for decorative seams and ornamental finishes.
You may like to keep one other thread on hand. The Gütermann invisible nylon thread is useful for hemming, beading, and other situations where you want your stitches to be absolutely undetectable.
Gütermann has been making threads for more than 275 years. If you want to be sure that your quilt will hold together through generations of use, you might want to stitch it with Gütermann thread.
