We love the range of prints available to tailor this swaddle blanket to the style that complements a nursery or a baby quilt. See the steps below and you’ll be stitching up a pile of pretty blankets in no time!
Project Size: 42” x 42”
Supplies Needed
To make our double gauze swaddle blanket, you’ll need double gauze. We used 2 coordinating prints from Art Gallery fabrics:
We chose a white thread, but you could use any color you like. Our favorite thread for piecing is Missouri Star 50wt cotton thread in white.
Project Instructions
Step 1
From the yardage, cut a 43" strip across the width of fabric and subcut to a 43" square.
Repeat with the second piece of double gauze.
Step 2
Align the 2 fabrics, right sides together. Place a pin on one edge of the fabrics and a second pin about 6” away. This will be the opening left for turning the fabric. Pin the remainder of the fabric as necessary to secure.
Making sure to backstitch at both ends, begin at one pin and sew with a 1⁄2” seam allowance around the entire perimeter of the fabric until you reach the other pin.
Remove all of the pins and turn the fabrics, right side out.
Step 3
Fold the edges of the opening under 1⁄2” and press.
It’s just that easy! Treat the sweet babies in your life with a double gauze swaddle blanket. Just these few quick stitches and you’ve got a soft and snuggly blanket sure to wrap your little one in love!
