Stacy Iest Hsu (pronounced Stacy East Shoe) has worked as a textile and surface designer for about twenty years. She has designed rugs, stationery, and apparel fabric for retailers such as Janie and Jack, GapKids, and Target. Her dream job is designing fabric collections for Moda Fabrics+Supplies. Stacy Iest Hsu loves designing whimsical novelty fabrics. Her passion is creating projects that appeal across all ages. Stacy is married, has three children, and lives in the San Francisco area–not terribly far from where she grew up on her parents’ farm in California’s central valley.
Stacy’s love of whimsy is on full display in her Jungle Paradise fabric. The fabrics in this collection throb with color–rich shades of green predominate with pops of pink, orange, yellow, and white. Birds in Paradise (Don’t you love the play on words?) is a fabric in the Jungle Paradise collection that features toucans, parrots, and cockatoos perched on green branches. Jungle Fun is a Stacy Iest Hsu Jungle Paradise print depicting monkeys, tigers, and leopards chasing each other around the forest. Maybe you are looking for fun projects to sew for kids. This Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics collection includes two Jungle Paradise panels–one for stuffed jungle animals and another Stacy Iest Hsu panel for a soft book. Missouri Star offers both of these panels as well as one of the Stacy Iest Hsu patterns–called Funny Monkey–for a quilt inspired by the Jungle Paradise fabrics.
A few of the Stacy Iest Hsu fabric collections by Moda are offered in precuts as well as yardage. For example, Missouri Star is now offering recently released Halloween prints that Stacy designed. Although Missouri Star is selling these prints as yardage, Moda does produce this Halloween fabric as Stacy Iest Hsu layer cake bundles, Stacy Iest Hsu charm pack bundles, and a Stacy Iest Hsu fat quarter bundle. A few other of her collections are available as Stacy Iest Hsu precut fabric–for example, a Christmas collection, a Valentine’s collection, and a patriotic collection.
